"I did not choose the spiritual world myself. It chose me. My first direct encounter with a spiritual energy took place far out in the jungle of Sumatra on a dark night.

I was 22 years old and had gone to Sumatra to see a rehabilitation center for orangutans who were either orphaned or freed from captivity. I was traveling alone and sleeping in a primitive little bungalow when I dreamed I could see my parents and talk to them. A nice dream when they were physically so far away. But suddenly the nice dream slips into a hideous nightmare: You owe me your life."

This is how my book 'When the spirits knock', which I have written in collaboration with a journalist, begins Karen Seneca . The book was published on October 7, 2013.
